Two of our very talented and inspirational Minnesota School of Cosmetology-Woodbury (MSC) students were chosen to compete in the Wella Professionals North American Trend Vision Awards held in Minneapolis last month. Nicole Bennett and Coral Luoma created complete overall looks that inspired numerous individuals in the audience. Their talent was easily recognized by not only the audience but also by the professional judges of the fashion show.
Nicole Bennett ended up placing second in the student category! Taking second place qualifies her model to be reviewed again, meaning she will move on to the next phase which will consist of a panel of Wella Professional experts judging her overall look to possibly qualify for a spot to compete in the next round of the competition, which will be held in Los Angeles, California.
Nicole said, “the experience was amazing.” She did not expect to do seven hours of prepping to complete her look, but that’s what it took. There was a lot of nervous chatter with the anticipation of the competition results but the build-up of was more stressful than actually going on stage.
Coral explained, “It was much more than I had anticipated. It was chaotic and stressful, but at the same time, it was very fun and exciting. I felt honored to be a part of such an amazing scene.”
I recently had an opportunity to talk with Mindi Dmitruck, account manager for CosmoProf. She excitedly shared with me, “I have been contacted from major salons asking how to get in contact with Ms. Bennett. She has amazing potential; she has the ability to go far in this industry.”
MSC is very proud of these ladies, and we are looking forward to seeing both of them grow in their talent and anticipate great things for each of them to come in their career.
