Celebrating Our Community Partner: Ficocello’s Salon

CJ Nelson (Ficocello’s Salon) and Jill Hocking (MSC Campus Director) speak to the audience about the MSC Woodbury Externship Program.
Globe Education Network (GEN), to which Minnesota School of Cosmetology belongs, hosted a wonderful Community Partner luncheon at the Southview Country Club in West St. Paul, Minn. Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC) was thrilled to entertain our service learning partners and employers who hire our graduates. This luncheon was a great opportunity for our community partners to tell their stories of how our students have benefited their organization.

CJ Nelson from Ficocello’s Salon spoke about the Minnesota School of Cosmetology-Woodbury Externship Program. Nelson noted that the program has been beneficial for the students to gain technical and professional skills but is also advantageous for the company. By recruiting the top 10 percent of the student body, employee turnover at the salon is reduced and the quality of customer services improves.

Minnesota School of Cosmetology is fortunate to have strong connections with community partners. Community partnership ensures the success of our students by giving them real world experience and opening them up to new knowledge and opportunities for their future careers.
