While attending the Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC), students are given the opportunity to learn and operate the Millennium scheduling software, gain customer service skills, and learn the importance of professionalism.
“The front desk training has helped me learn to multitask and remain calm when things get stressful,” says MSC student Nancy Janson. “The training has also helped me develop my leadership skills and confidence.”
MSC Student Daijha Wells said, “The most valuable thing I have learned while training at the desk is how clients respond to the way you present yourself and the importance of professionalism. My favorite part of being at the desk is greeting clients and seeing happy results at the end of their services.”
Students work with the desk staff to complete a two and a half page list of quotas and training tasks.
“The quota training list that we follow keeps the learning easy and on track. We learn everything we need to know to be prepared for this portion of our career,” said MSC student Pordea Carpenter
Students learn how to answer phones, greet clients, schedule appointments, complete transactions, and most importantly, gain customer service skills.
MSC student Tiffani Rhodes said, “I have gained confidence and learned communication techniques through this training. These skills will help me succeed once I am in the salon. I feel the front desk training that MSC provides will present me with more opportunities once I’m in the salon, and could possibly lead to a management position or a promotion within my career.”
