Advanced Hair Coloring

Some additional advanced coloring techniques are also considered advanced cosmetology techniques. This includes balayage, foiling paint-betweens, multi-color application, and color corrections. Balayage is a hair lightening technique designed to make a client’s hair look more natural. Color is applied to hair using a freehand technique and then processes in the open air.

Similarly, hair color foiling lightens a client’s hair. Foiling involves sectioning the hair before applying the color. After the hair color is applied, the hair is wrapped in foil for processing. Multi-color application involves sectioning off hair from the hairline. After this, the cosmetologist applies back to back foils. As a result, this gives the hair a multi-dimensional look.

Color correction involves coloring the hair from grey or an undesirable color.  The hair color correction process can involve any combination of toners and shampoos to restore, remove, or neutralize hair color.
