Minnesota School of Cosmetology Graduate says Program Absolutely Prepared Her for the Field
Karis Steenberg says she started at Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC) “a little later,” but was pleasantly surprised to find her classmates were of all ages, which made her feel more comfortable. Karis is now a graduate of the Woodbury campus, and with the help of career services, landed a job at Viva Voce Salon before she graduated.
“I started researching salons … and applying at the ones I found suiting. They thought I had the abilities and education needed to succeed at their salon,” explains Karis. “Everyone [at MSC] was willing to call the salons I applied at to leave a good word.”
The financial aid department also helped make Karis’ experience at MSC hassle-free.
“The financial aid office was always willing to help find funds and walk me through anything to make the financial side of school as easy as possible,” she says.
When it comes to exposing students to all aspects of the field, Karis says the instructors at MSC are instrumental.
“MSC does a great job of opening every door of options and opportunities to their students. From products to salons and every job possibility,” Karis explains. “[The instructors are] always willing to help.”
Karis says she was also able to network with fellow students and others in the industry, and it was one of her favorite parts of the program.
“I had the best time working with the other students and instructors,” she says. “I loved meeting other salon owners and their staff.”
Karis says her happiness and success in her career is due to her educational experience at Minnesota School of Cosmetology.
“I love where I work and I love what I do,” she says. “MSC offers a wide variety of products, education and perspective to make you the best cosmetologist they can.”
