MINNESOTA SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY GIVES BACK TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS BY EDUCATING STUDENTS
ABOUT CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students from Humboldt High School will learn about what a career in cosmetology entails
WOODBURY, Minn. (Nov. 17, 2014) – On Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon, two dozen Humboldt High School juniors and seniors will visit the Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC)-Woodbury campus to learn about careers in the beauty industry.
“We think this is a great opportunity to educate local high school students about the education requirements and possible career paths within the cosmetology industry,” says Jill Hocking, campus director for Minnesota School of Cosmetology-Woodbury. “It’s also a chance to give them some extra pampering.”
This is the fourth year the campus has done an event like this. Humboldt students will receive manicures, haircuts and hairstyles from MSC students, as well as a lunch.
Minnesota School of Cosmetology is part of a network of career colleges, which integrate career-focused education with applied learning to expose students to real-world working environments, while also providing them with opportunities to give back to their local communities. MSC has partnered with many local organizations to participate in community service events, such as Operation Glass Slipper, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, and Cancer Survivor Beauty and Support Day.
