The Minnesota School of Cosmetology Story
Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC), founded in September 2003, carries on a 60-year tradition of quality that began with the establishment of Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center (MCEC) in 1950.
Originally housed in a converted residence, MCEC expanded and updated its facilities and curriculum over the years, always focusing on providing current and high-demand skills for the salon industry. In addition to cosmetology techniques, students studied sales, business communication and fashion.
In 2003, Terry and Kaye Myhre acquired MCEC, named the institution Minnesota School of Cosmetology, and moved the facility from South Saint Paul to a new location in Oakdale. In August 2007, the school moved to its present location in the Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury, where it features a large, professional salon floor as well as classroom space. It is now located at 1750 Weir Drive, Woodbury, MN 55125.

We offer students high-quality training for rich and rewarding careers in the salon industry. Our school is:
- Nationally accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) to award diplomas. NACCAS is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the national accrediting agency for cosmetology schools
- Licensed by Minnesota Board of Barber and Cosmetologist Examiners
- Approved for Veterans Education and Training by the Minnesota Department of Education State Approving Agency
- Eligible for participation federal and state financial aid programs
Globe Education Network
As a member of Globe Education Network, Minnesota School of Cosmetology works collaboratively with other career training institutions. Member colleges. including Minnesota School of Business and Globe University, work together on behalf of students.
