Globe Education Network
Minnesota School of Cosmetology works collaboratively with other career colleges as members of the Globe Education Network (The Network). The Network supports education and administration at member career colleges, including Globe University, Minnesota School of Business, Utah Career College, Institute of Production and Recording and the Duluth Business University.
The Network provides operational support for administrators of member colleges and universities, and provides academic support and manages a wealth of shared resources for the benefit of students.
Through consortium agreements approved by member schools' accrediting bodies, credits earned for classes taken at schools within the Network apply directly to degree programs at member schools. Degrees are granted by the individual colleges.
Students of Minnesota School of Cosmetology will see the Globe Education Network name on shared resources, including the Blackboard web site. Classes, however, are delivered by the member colleges. Minnesota School of Cosmetology participates in the Network to increase the learning resources available to students and faculty members.
The Minnesota School of Cosmetology Story
Minnesota School of Cosmetology, Inc. was founded in September of 2003 after acquiring the reputable Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center (MCEC). Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center was established in 1950 in a residential home that was converted to a school setting.
In 1988, new owners purchased the school and revamped the curriculum focus on the quickly growing salon industry of the 1990s. Students learned cosmetology and also focused on sales training, communication, fashion and technical ability.
In 2003, MCEC was acquired by Terry and Kaye Myhre, who renamed the institution Minnesota School of Cosmetology and moved the facility from South Saint Paul to a new location in Oakdale. In August of 2007, the facility was moved to its present, innovative location in the Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury. Minnesota School of Cosmetology is located at 1750 Weir Drive, Woodbury, MN 55125.
Our institution is nationally accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS).
NACCAS is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the national accrediting agency for cosmetology schools.
