History and School Accreditation
Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC) carries on a 60-year tradition of educational excellence that began with the establishment of Minnesota Cosmetology Education Center (MCEC) in 1950. Originally housed in a converted residence, MCEC expanded and updated its facilities and curriculum over the years—but the school always stayed true to its focus of providing hands-on training for the beauty industry.
In 2003, Terry and Kaye Myhre acquired MCEC and renamed the institution Minnesota School of Cosmetology. Today, the school serves students and the Minneapolis-St. Paul community from two convenient locations: Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury and Plymouth Plaza in Plymouth. Both facilities feature professional salon-style clinic floors, where students receive extensive hands-on training.
Nationally accredited cosmetology school
Minnesota School of Cosmetology (MSC) in Woodbury is nationally accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). Our new Plymouth campus, which will offer the same rich curriculum, will pursue accreditation upon opening. NACCAS is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education as a national accrediting agency for cosmetology schools. MSC is licensed by the state of Minnesota.
